EXPERIENCE

As a patent attorney and patent litigator admitted before the Supreme Court of China, Dr. Hong focuses his practice on all aspects of patent prosecution and patent litigation in the life science and biotechnology fields. Dr. Hong has extensive experience preparing and prosecuting Chinese patent applications and PCT patent applications, and specializes in legal opinions on patentability, freedom-to-operate and due diligence. He is also well experienced in assisting clients with intellectual property licensing and transfers. 


Dr. Hong's clients include not only the domestic and oversea multinational pharmaceuticals & biotechnological companies, universities and institutes, but also start-up companies and personals. Since 2014, Dr. Hong has been representing a foreign biotech giant as a patent litigation counsel and attorney before the courts. 


Prior to joining Insight IP in 2004, Dr. Hong worked at a national medical research institute as an associate professor. Dr. Hong’s research work focused on the molecular mechanism of pathological and pathophysiological changes in diseases caused by hypoxia/ischemia, and the development of new drugs for the treatment thereof. His research also included the investigation of new genetic markers and stimulating cytokines in hematopoietic stem cell mobilization and development. Dr. Hong was a member of the editorial board of the Chinese Journal of Applied Physiology and a committee member of the Chinese Association of Applied Physiological Sciences.
